A handsome, athletic player of film and TV who has long been poised to become the thinking man's action star but seems loath to grab the ring, Biehn first registered with a chilling portrait of an obsessed admirer of Lauren Bacall in "The Fan" (1981). He began acting in local theater productions while attending high school in Lake Havasu, AZ. By the mid-1970s, Biehn had made the move to L.A., where he began performing one-line guest spots on TV. He spent most of the late 70s in TV-movies, famous actors and short-lived series. Biehn achieved some measure of stardom with an admirably heartfelt portrayal of Kyle Reese, a determined soldier from the future who must save Linda Hamilton from a robotic Arnold Schwarzenegger in James Cameron's sci-fi classic "The Terminator" (1984). This began his significant collaboration with the increasingly celebrated writer-director. Biehn subsequently co-starred in "Aliens" (1986), as Cpl. Hicks, the last Marine to assist the indefatigable Sigourney Weaver, and "The Abyss" (1989), as a psychopathic Navy SEAL who tries to undermine Ed Harris. Biehn also reprised the role of Reese in the blockbuster sequel "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991), in a deleted dream sequence that was restored for the director's cut on laser disc. While Biehn has remained active in film and TV, he has failed to live up to the promise of his work with Cameron. He has become sort of a second-string action lead, starring in the likes of "K2", an uneven mountain climbing pic, and the straight-to-video thriller "Time Bomb" (both 1991), while remaining an A-list supporting player in "Navy SEALS" (1990), "Tombstone" (1993) and "The Rock" (1996).
