Can A Head Coach Todd Haley Win With Less Talent?

eNewsReference.com By : Staff Reporting

The Pittsburgh Steelers is on the verge of missing the playoff this season and yet some are informing me that Todd Haley is in contention for a head coaching position in the NFL. I’m fully aware that the Steelers have racked up 5,948 total offensive yards and they have arguably the best receiving cadre in the league. At last check they ranked third in total offense in NFL, but what would Haley do without one of the league’s best Quarterback Receiver tandems and a proficient running attack?

Could Haley take a team with significantly less and produce the same results? In other words can he produce a playoff contending team without the luxury of talent on the Steeler’s roster? If you’re a team that wants to make a significant investment in a head coach I ask that you look at Haley’s performance in critical situations this season.

I would urge any front office to take a close look at the Steeler’s close defeat against their division rival Baltimore Ravens. Even though the Ravens are in the bottom 15 in the leagues for pass defense they managed to hold the Steelers to under 20 points in both division games. The Steelers air attack was grounded at critical junctures throughout the game.

In 2014 we suffered embarrassing defeats against division rivals in Baltimore and even in Cleveland, but any team considering Todd Haley should consider his performance under limited circumstances.

When Big Ben was out, they played a very tough game in San Diego. At a critical point in the game Big Ben drew up an offensive play and we reported:

Startling revelation that injured Pittsburgh Steeler Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger drew up the explosive 72 yard Michael Vick pass to Markus Wheaton in last night’s thrilling victory over the San Diego Chargers.

Immediately before the game winning run by Runningback Le'Veon Bell; they received instructions on the play by Ben Roethlisberger; which begs the question, what is the role of the true Offensive Coordinator, Todd Haley in Pittsburgh since Ben Roethlisberger call his own plays under center?

Big Ben also said he factored in the fact that he knew Michael Vick likes getting out of the pocket when drawing up the 72 yard play. Why did it take Big Ben to utilize Vick's strengths?

Big Ben was very disappointed when Haley arrived as the offensive coordinator, so I’m guessing he won’t be devastated if he departs. Big Ben usually controls the discussion when he zips to the sidelines in critical game situations and I would argue that it’s because he has too much control of the offensive strategy and execution due to Haley’s inefficiency.

It’s easy to win 10 games in this league with the league’s best running back, quarterback, and wide receiver. There is zero indication in my mind that Haley has the capability to win with less.

The Scoop On Kirk Cousins

eNewsReference.com By : Staff Reporting

By all accounts Kirk Cousins is a mediocre Quarterback in the National Football League. He's had issues winning on the road and has strongled against playoff teams with winning records. It's very striking that many sports analysts have asked or presented the question of whether or not Cousins is the real deal. It's hard to believe that some have done a lot to prop up this quarterback when his on-field performance has been subpar most of the season.

A healthy RGIII with in a offensive system that is committed to his skill sets has this team at better than .500 and struggling to get in the playoff in a lackluster division. Cousins will go into contract negotiations at the end of the season and in all likelihood receive a huge amount of cash, but they will never win a Super Bowl with Cousins under center.
